Irrigation & Green Industry names second Changing the Landscape Awards winner

Sinc Constructors wins the irrigation category.

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA (July 15, 2021)Irrigation & Green Industry magazine announced the second winner of its new Changing the Landscape Awards, which spotlight amazing projects by landscape and irrigation professionals. Sinc Constructors Co., Centreville, Utah, was selected as the winner of the irrigation category, sponsored by Dawn Industries, for its work bringing multiple water sources together in a single irrigation system for a local park.

“Our irrigation contractor submissions really showed us what they’re capable of, from smart irrigation retrofits to complex system designs and installations,” said Kyle Brown, Irrigation & Green Industry editor-in-chief. “Sinc Constructors did an excellent job addressing several challenges when installing this irrigation system. They’re very deserving of this recognition.”

When beginning the installation of the system for the 104,500-square-foot municipal park, the Sinc Constructors faced several obstacles. The major challenge of the project was incorporating a secondary groundwater source available to supplement the primary culinary water source. The project also required making field adjustments for the pump bypass and gallons per minute range. In the end, the team creatively and strategically worked through these issues to help the city build a thriving park for the neighborhood.

“When you are depending on a natural water source and have to bring in a pump station and tie into city water, there is a lot of design and engineering that goes on to make everything work together,” wrote a contest judge. “Great job on helping save water.”

“Dawn Industries Inc. would like to congratulate the team at Sinc Constructors Co. of Centerville, Utah, as the winner of the Irrigation Changing the Landscape Award,” said Gerri Murray, director of sales for Dawn Industries. “They were able to creatively source irrigation to a local park using custom builds to blend water from a natural spring with supplemented water when the reservoir runs low, saving the city considerably on water bills.”

A case study feature on Sinc Constructors and the installation was included in the July 2021 issue of Irrigation & Green Industry magazine, and a podcast featuring an interview with Sinc Constructors will be available on www.igin.com. The winner of the landscape design category, sponsored by Ditch Witch, was announced and featured in the May/June issue. The lighting winner, sponsored by Brilliance LED, will be featured in an issue later this year.

The Changing the Landscape Awards highlighted accomplishments by landscape and irrigation professionals in work completed in 2019 or 2020. Submitted projects were judged and winners selected by members of the IGIN Editorial Advisory Board.
