Earn CEUs

Certified professionals can earn continuing education units for a wide variety of professional development activities, including

  • Taking online classes, irrigation seminars and webinars
  • Attending in-person IA classes
  • Attending industry conferences and trade shows
  • Taking pre-approved industry education offerings
  • Teaching irrigation classes
  • Earning additional IA certifications
  • Presenting irrigation-focused technical papers
  • Judging irrigation competitions
  • Writing irrigation reference materials or books
  • Serving on an industry association board or committee
  • Attending business courses or seminars

Understanding Your CEU Cycle

IA certifications are maintained on a two-year continuing education cycle.

Your first CEU cycle begins January 1 of the year following the year you earn your certification.

Example: If you become certified in August 2026, your first CEU cycle begins Jan. 1, 2027, and ends Dec. 31, 2028.

During each two-year cycle, you must:

  • ✓ Earn 20 CEUs.
  • ✓ Include at least 10 irrigation-specific CEUs.
  • ✓ Include at least 5 Tier 1 water-efficient CEUs.
  • ✓ Submit all CEUs by Dec. 31 of the second year of your cycle.
