Irrigation & Green Industry names first Changing the Landscape Awards winner

Adair’s Landscape & Maintenance Corp. wins the landscape design category.

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA (May 17, 2021) Irrigation & Green Industry magazine announced the first winner of its new Changing the Landscape Awards, which spotlight amazing projects by landscape and irrigation professionals. Landon Adair, president of Adair’s Landscape & Maintenance Corp., South Jordan, Utah, was selected as the winner of the landscape design category, sponsored by Ditch Witch, for his work on a residential outdoor living space that blended together complex elements.

“Landon’s team worked from a rough sketch provided by his clients to produce an incredible installation,” says Kyle Brown, Irrigation & Green Industry editor-in-chief. “We had multiple impressive submissions to choose from with a range of different approaches, from heavy hardscaping to native plant installations.”

Adair and his team brought together multiple areas of the house in the new living space, including a deck off the upstairs kitchen and a walk-out basement, connecting them with an outdoor pool and basketball court. They managed the flow of traffic to allow each section to feel distinct without being separated and softened the hardscaped areas with plants and lighting.

“Creating outdoor entertainment spaces is done often but rarely as interesting and sympathetic as this,” writes a contest judge. “The designer took special consideration in creating spaces that feel private but are accessible while extending the ‘living space’ of the house through form/function, materials, colors and texture. This landscape truly serves those that get to enjoy it. As complicated and detailed as this design seems, it has been executed flawlessly and truly fits the space.”

“Congratulations to Adair’s Landscape & Maintenance Corp. for being selected as this year’s winner of the landscape design category. They do a lot of great work, but this particular job is incredible,” says Brant Kukuk, Ditch Witch compact equipment product marketing manager. “We’re happy to be able to partner with Irrigation & Green Industry to help highlight some of the great work these contractors can accomplish. We hope our equipment and dealership network can continue to assist you to take on more jobs and complete them safely and efficiently.”

A case study feature on Adair and the installation was included in the May/June 2021 issue of Irrigation & Green Industry magazine, and a podcast featuring an interview with Adair will be available on www.igin.com. Each of the winners for the remaining categories, irrigation sponsored by Dawn Industries and lighting sponsored by Brilliance LED, will be similarly featured in issues later this year.

The Changing the Landscape Awards highlighted accomplishments by landscape and irrigation professionals in work completed in 2019 or 2020. Submitted projects were judged and winners selected by members of the IGIN Editorial Advisory Board.
