IA offers core irrigation curriculum through IA University

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA (Oct. 12, 2020) — The Irrigation Association is offering its popular IA University courses virtually Nov. 30-Dec. 4. IA University is the core curriculum for irrigation professionals. These classes are offered every year to teach the fundamental and practical skills necessary to design, install or maintain an irrigation system, as well as the business skills to manage a small irrigation company.

Normally offered on location during the annual Irrigation Show and Education Week, this year IA University courses are being offered via digital format during the same time as the originally scheduled 2020 Irrigation Show. This will provide individuals the opportunity to learn this valuable curriculum and earn CEUs from the convenience and safety of their home or office.

“IA University courses include real-world applications and current techniques, which make them much more valuable and beneficial than a basic class,” said Mike Temple, LEED AP, CGIA, CIC, CID, CLIA, CLWM, IA technical program director. “These in-depth courses help you upgrade your skills and knowledge, improve on-the-job productivity, and prepare for certification.”

Participants can choose from beginner, intermediate and advanced courses in the following categories: agriculture, landscape and golf, landscape business basics, and pumps and soils. A free math tutorial will also be offered. The full schedule of courses and links to register are available at www.irrigation.org/IAuniversity. Register by Nov. 25 to ensure that materials arrive prior to the class date.

“Even though the coronavirus is keeping us from in-person events, irrigation professionals shouldn’t have to put their education on hold,” said Deborah Hamlin, CAE, FASAE, IA CEO. “The IA is proud to be able to continue providing this comprehensive curriculum to those looking to expand their knowledge and skill set.”

The IA is also offering a network of in-person paper-and-pencil certification exams following these courses Dec. 7-18. These exams and the IA University courses are sponsored by SiteOne Landscape Supply. For more information about this and other programs offered during Education Week+, go to www.irrigationshow.org.
