CEU Audit Requirements

The IA Certification Board conducts an annual audit to verify continuing education activities submitted by certified professionals. If selected, participation in the audit is required.

Certified professionals should keep documentation for all CEUs earned during their current and previous two-year CEU cycles.

If You Are Selected for an Audit

  • ✓ Submit documentation verifying your submitted CEUs.
  • ✓ Provide documentation within the timeframe outlined in your audit notice.
  • ✓ Complete any required corrective action if documentation is incomplete or unavailable.
  • ✓ Familiarize yourself with certification policies and testing requirements.

Failure to respond to audit requests may result in suspension or revocation of your IA certification.

Acceptable CEU Documentation

Documentation should verify your participation, the activity date, the sponsoring organization, and the CEU value (when applicable).

Activity Acceptable Documentation
IA-Sponsored Events ✓ No documentation required. IA records attendance, but you must still submit the activity to your IA account.
Trade Show Attendance ✓ Badge copy, event brochure, or verification email from an exhibitor.
In-Person Training ✓ Certificate of attendance, course syllabus, or training schedule showing your name, date, provider and CEU value.
Online Training ✓ Completion certificate/code, confirmation email, or documentation showing webinar title, provider, date, content and duration.
Training You Conducted ✓ Session materials, syllabus, class roster and verification from the sponsoring organization.
Writing Irrigation Materials ✓ Published articles, books, technical papers or reference materials listing you as the author.
Industry Leadership Roles ✓ Written verification from the association, licensing board or committee confirming your role and service dates.
In-House Training ✓ Written verification from a supervisor or training coordinator confirming participation details.

Documentation That is Not Accepted

  • ✗ Registration confirmation emails
  • ✗ A promise to obtain documentation later
