Volunteers are critical to SWAT’s success, donating time and expertise to develop testing protocols, promote water-efficient technologies and best practices, and develop resources for water providers. In exchange for their service, volunteers enhance their own professional development and benefit their company.
SWAT’s leadership strives to include water provider representatives from each geographic region of North America to ensure the initiative addresses these areas’ different water issues. Volunteer leaders are currently needed for the following groups:
- The Executive Task Team provides general oversight for SWAT, coordinating efforts among the initiative’s working groups and serving as a liaison with the IA Board of Directors.
- The Technology Working Group develops science-based testing protocols for smart irrigation products and defines best practices for water-use efficiency.
- The Promotions Working Group works to increase awareness of the importance of water-use efficiency and develops materials that water providers can use for customer outreach.
