Chris Keating named IA 2025 Industry Achievement Award recipient
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA (August 5, 2025) — The Irrigation Association is excited to announce that Chris Keating, CID, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Industry Achievement Award. This award is the IA’s highest honor and recognizes an individual whose career demonstrates outstanding contributions to the advancement of the irrigation industry.
Chris Keating has spent over five decades in the irrigation industry, earning a reputation as a technical expert, approachable mentor and passionate advocate for efficient water use. He began as a contractor and quickly became a local authority, eager to share knowledge with peers and even competitors. Over the years, he has helped shape the profession through his work in state chapter associations, mentoring programs, workforce development and training initiatives. In Toro distribution and at The Toro Company, where he held various sales and management roles, Keating supported the growth of countless professionals, from new hires to emerging contractors and E3 learners. Known for his deep knowledge and clear, accessible teaching style, he continues to inspire a new generation of irrigation professionals.
“The Irrigation Association is proud to honor Chris Keating for his remarkable career and lasting contributions to the irrigation industry,” said IA CEO Natasha Rankin. “Chris has set the standard not only as a technical expert but as a mentor and advocate for others in the field. Whether serving on a board or talking one-on-one with a young professional, he continues to give generously of his time, driven by a genuine desire to help others succeed in the industry and community he loves. His passion, leadership and commitment to supporting others in reaching their potential have helped shape the future of irrigation in meaningful and lasting ways.”
Keating’s influence extends through his extensive volunteer work with the IA and related organizations. He has held leadership roles at the state and national level, including serving on the IA Board of Directors, chair of the Irrigation Foundation and numerous leadership roles on state Irrigation Associations in New Jersey, Virginia and the Carolinas. His time with the Irrigation Foundation was pivotal in shifting its focus toward workforce development, helping to launch lasting IA initiatives like the E3 program. Whether serving on a board or talking one-on-one with a young professional, Keating continues to give generously of his time, driven by a genuine desire to help others succeed in the industry he loves.
“I am humbled to have been nominated and to receive the IA Industry Achievement Award. It’s surreal to be mentioned in the same breath with the past recipients, many who have inspired me and impacted my life and career,” said Keating. “I’ve had a 50-year relationship with The Toro Company as a contractor customer, a distributor and, of course, an employee. Receiving this award is a wonderful validation that hard work, ethical behavior, education, certification and mentoring have value.”
The 2025 IA Award recipients will be honored at the 2025 Irrigation Show and Education Week in New Orleans, Dec. 8-11. More information about this and other IA awards and past recipients can be found at irrigation.org/awards.
