Like many other organizations, companies and individuals, the Irrigation Association has taken time to reflect on the various inequalities and prejudices that continue to occur throughout the United States.
During the July meeting of the IA Board of Directors, the IA leadership discussed the association’s commitment to equality and what we as an industry can and should do to listen to one another and forge a path forward. Specifically, the board discussed ensuring we make leadership and management opportunities throughout the irrigation industry available to all, regardless of race, gender or any other aspect which makes someone unique.
As a first step, the Board of Directors implemented a new Commitment to Equality. This statement provides initial direction to staff and members of the Irrigation Association in seeking opportunities to promote diversity throughout our industry’s workforce and programs. The board also directed IA staff to provide regular updates, ensuring positive action is taken on this commitment.
