The Irrigation Association is celebrating Smart Irrigation Month in July. This month-long campaign highlights and promotes the benefits of smart, efficient irrigation. Beyond educating the public, it is also an opportunity to highlight the irrigation industry’s commitment to efficient irrigation and stewardship of our valuable resources.
This month, make your pledge to support the campaign. Show your customers, water providers, irrigation districts, regulators and the public how your company is advancing efficient irrigation. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Wear blue on Technology Tuesday (July 9)
Join with your colleagues in the irrigation industry to wear blue on Tuesday, July 9. Technology Tuesday is the official kickoff of Smart Irrigation Month and a key day to show your support. Watch for the winners of the annual IA awards to be announced.
Show your ‘Smart Irrigation in Action’
Participate in the IA’s video contest by posting a short video showing this year’s theme: “Smart Irrigation in Action.” Winners can choose between a $200 Visa gift card or a free full registration to the Irrigation Show and Education Week. Contest rules are on the website.
Spread the word on social media
Post photos of you and your colleagues wearing blue on Technology Tuesday. Showcase smart irrigation in action by sharing your story and the reasons why you support efficient irrigation. Use the IA’s custom social media graphics and cover photos to support the campaign.
Get the message out over the radio waves
Ask your local radio station to play a public service announcement on the importance of efficient irrigation technologies and practices. Take advantage of the IA’s PSA script.
Craft a message for your audience
Submit an ag- or landscape-focused article on the benefits of smart, efficient irrigation to your favorite blog or e-newsletter. Send a letter to the editor to engage with your local news media. Use the IA’s templates to help craft your own message.
