Smart Irrigation Month 2019 one of the best yet!

Thank you to everyone who supported Smart Irrigation Month this year! We encourage the industry and our partners to continue to advocate for smart irrigation beyond July and throughout the year.

Here are a few highlights from the month.

Video contest winner announced

The video contest has now become a staple of Smart Irrigation Month, infusing advocacy and storytelling into our July activities. Congratulations to Michael Gutierrez of Broward County, Florida‘s NatureScape Irrigation Service for his winning video on how a customer took advantage of a new irrigation rebate program. Thank you to everyone who supported Smart Irrigation Month by submitting a video in the contest.

Showing your “blue” colors

To show their support for our July activities, we asked members to wear blue on Technology Tuesday. Cheers to all our members and supporters for coming through and showing your commitment to smart irrigation.

Going the extra mile

A few companies went a step further in their efforts to spread the word about Smart Irrigation Month:

Other notable events in July …

  • The White House hosted a Made in America event showcasing domestically produced products. We were glad to see T-L Irrigation representing the irrigation industry at the event. In epic fashion, they assembled a center pivot on the south lawn of the White House. Read more here.
  • The Farm Journal Foundation hosted an event to unveil Agriculture Through the Voice of the Farmer, a new installation showcasing agriculture on the National Mall. Part of the exhibit focuses on agricultural irrigation technology. Read more here.

Engaging local water providers

Launched this summer, the Smart Water Application Technologies awards program aims to honor water providers that have joined with irrigation professionals to promote outdoor water-use efficiency. We received a strong group of applicants and look forward to announcing the winners at the WaterSmart Innovations conference in October 2019.
