Irrigation Foundation Career Awareness & Recruitment Task Group

The Irrigation Foundation Board of Trustees create task groups as needed for the implementation of Foundation initiatives. The Foundation chair appoints all task group chairs, which are subject to approval of the full BOT. Task group members are appointed by the task group chair and/or the Foundation chair. Task group members do not have to be a member of the BOT. There are no term limitations for task group leadership or participation. This task group:

  • Creates awareness of the career potential within the irrigation profession.
  • Attracts and recruits pre-career, second career, and professionals to academic institutions with irrigation curriculum and the overall irrigation industry.
Role of task group members:
  • Understand the nature and scope of work assigned by the board of directors.
  • Learn committee objectives and goals.
  • Attend and actively participate in all scheduled committee meetings and conference calls.
  • Offer unbiased recommendations and work for the good of the organization and membership.
  • Respond to communications from chair and staff liaison in a timely manner.
  • Provide input to IA staff and committee leadership upon request.
  • Recuse themselves when their company’s mission is in direct conflict with the focus of the committee.
  • Review supplied materials for discussion (if any) prior to meetings or conference calls.
  • Seek guidance and direction from committee chair.
  • Report to committee chair.
  • Responsible for expenses to attend meetings.

  • Makes a serious commitment to participate actively in committee work.
  • Familiarity with best management practices.
  • Attention to deadlines.
  • Experience on a volunteer board or committee such as a civic association, PTA, homeowners’ association, etc. preferred.
  • Demonstrate creative thinking and problem solving.
  • Experience engaging in some level of student and/or career seeker interaction.
  • Possess insight into variety of irrigation career opportunities.
