The Irrigation Association is seeking a database and IT manager in our Fairfax, Virginia office. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the overall integrity of the iMIS database (desktop version and RiSE) and coordinating with third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects. The position also involves being the liaison between the IA’s IT contractor and staff with software, networking and hardware issues. This position requires excellent organization, communication and project management skills. Candidate should be high-energy, organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated and be able to set, manage and meet priorities under quickly changing conditions. The database and IT manager will report to the administration director and works closely with the business development director, professional development director and communications director.

Duties and responsibilities:

Ensure the integrity of IA’s data.

  • Create queries for IA data reporting and analysis.
  • Audit the database to ensure records are up-to-date and eliminate duplicate records.
  • Export data in various forms for publishing: e.g., mailing lists, reports, etc.
  • Monitor interface from database to web directories and IA store.
  • Manage billing information and invoices for membership and certification renewals.
  • Understand and monitor the IA’s certification module with internal professional development staff.
  • Manage the IA’s technology contractor and user accounts, including MS O365 and Adobe.
  • Configure new laptops and provide onboarding IT training for new staff.
  • Monitor IA’s IT networking and be able to do basic troubleshooting.
  • Manage mailing list purchases and data comparisons.
  • Import data from the annual Irrigation Show and Education conference and other sources.
  • Oversee data entry projects and train staff on data entry.
  • Develop policies and standard operating procedures for all iMIS activities.
  • Provide recommendations on additional integration, system support and training for iMIS database.
  • Work with the finance department to continuously improve accounts receivable system.
  • Provide phone support assist with other projects as needed.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • an associate’s degree or higher.
  • three to five years of experience working with iMIS, both in desktop and RiSE.
  • two to three years of experience with networking, hardware and software.
  • experience with SQL and SSRS reports.
  • knowledge of networking, hardware and software support.
  • a strong attention to detail and is highly organized.
  • excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • the ability to multi-task effectively.
  • the ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • proficient skills with Microsoft Office products.
  • website experience, networking and/or PC support preferred.

Other expectations:

  • Travel to the Irrigation Show and Education Week (one week per year, November or December)
  • Full time, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
