Plant for Impact: Growing Community Together

Thursday, Dec. 11 | 10:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m.

Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, 2nd Floor, New Orleans theater pre-function area

The Irrigation Show is more than an industry event — it’s a chance to make a lasting difference. This year, the Irrigation Association is proud to partner with Edible Schoolyard New Orleans (ESYNOLA) and FirstLine Schools for a giveback initiative: Plant for Impact.

Join us as we roll up our sleeves and assemble take-home garden kits for local students. These kits will empower children to grow fresh herbs and flowers at home, sparking curiosity about gardening, healthy eating and sustainability. Each kit includes student-friendly essentials like pots, seeds, watering cans and tools — all packed with care by Irrigation Show attendees. By participating, you’ll be directly contributing to programs that blend food justice, environmental stewardship and community health, inspiring a new generation to care for their bodies, their communities and the planet!

Why it matters:
Edible Schoolyard New Orleans integrates hands-on gardening into the curriculum at FirstLine public charter schools, teaching students to grow, harvest and prepare fresh food. By providing 300 garden kits, we’re helping extend that learning beyond the classroom and into homes across New Orleans.

How you can help:

  • Following the General Session on Thursday, Dec. 11, stop by the New Orleans theater pre-function area between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Come early — these kits get packed quickly, and you won’t want to miss your chance to make an impact!
  • Join one of two assembly lines and help pack kits for local students.
  • Share your experience on social media using #IrrigationShow25 to inspire others.
Together, we can cultivate more than gardens — we can grow confidence, healthy habits and brighter futures.

This event is open to all Irrigation Show attendees. No additional registration required — just bring your energy and enthusiasm!
