2020 Call for Presenters

The Irrigation Association invites all persons interested in sharing an innovative irrigation research project, how-to or best practice to submit a proposal to be considered for presentation during the 2020 Irrigation Show and Education Week. Industry Insights is the prime opportunity for you to reach an audience showcasing your expertise in one of the industrys latest trends, practices or relevant topics.

Please note: The 2020 Industry Insight sessions are separate from and are not being held in conjunction with the 6th Decennial National Irrigation Symposium, which is being hosted by the IA and the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers at the 2020 Irrigation Show. Presenters for the symposium have been selected and notified.

The IA is pleased to offer the following opportunities for presenters in 2020. These irrigation “dialogues” are designed to engage the audience and will blend traditional technical sessions with irrigation best practice seminars and business tracks, as well as hot topics on the show floor.

  • Choose from a 30-, 60- or 90-minute format. Panel discussions are welcome.
  • Select from research, best practices, how-tos, trends and more!

All topics* related to the irrigation industry will be considered; however, requested topics include the following:

  • impactful case studies, including project manager participation
  • long-term water savings using new technology
  • improved irrigation installation best practices
  • customer retention best practices
  • improving the relationship between contractor and consultant
  • selling to meet customer needs and wants
  • retaining great employees
  • converting irrigation systems from potable water to alternate water sources
  • drip irrigation and maintenance
  • hemp irrigation
  • landscape lighting

Presentations must be nonproprietary and educational in nature, not sales or product-specific. The presentations shall be in English; translators will not be provided.

*Due to the 6th Decennial National Irrigation Symposium, a limited number of agriculture presentations will be accepted.

The expanded 30-, 60- and 90-minute presentation format offers the perfect opportunity for panel presentations and Q&A discussions.


Hot topics presentations will create a buzz on the show floor.

Highlighting issues that are timely and relevant to the industry, these short presentations can be less technical while still educational and informative.


Presenting has its perks.

Receive a reduced speaker registration fee of $195. Gain experience and visibility as a thought leader of the irrigation industry. Receive recognition in show marketing materials.


Eligibility & Requirements

  • Deadline to submit presentation proposals is Friday, May 1, 2020.
  • Presentation proposals must include a description that is a minimum of 150 words and a maximum of 300 words; it must also include two to four key takeaways and an idea of how you will engage the audience.
  • Proposals should be nonproprietary and not company- or brand-specific.
  • No more than three proposal entries can be submitted per individual. Each presentation proposal will need to be submitted as a separate entry.
  • Incomplete proposals will not be considered.
  • Research-based presenters may submit a paper to be included in the Education Week proceedings.
  • Accepted presenters are required to submit their PowerPoint presentations or papers (if applicable) by Sept. 1, 2020.
  • Accepted presenters are required to register for the Irrigation Show and Education Week.
    • A coupon code for a reduced registration fee of $195 will be provided.
    • Any spouses/guests will need to register and pay the guest registration fee.
  • Accepted presenters are responsible for all travel and hotel costs.

Proposal Content

When submitting a proposal, presenters will be asked to provide the following:

  • contact information
  • current IA membership status
  • years in the irrigation industry
  • presentation title
  • presentation focus: agricultural, turf-landscape or both
  • topic description (150 words minimum; 300 words maximum)
  • two to four key takeaways gained as a result of the presentation
  • desired target audience
  • requested presentation type (choose one):
    • 30-minute presentation
    • 60-minute presentation
    • 90-minute presentation
  • audience engagement

Note: If this will be a panel presentation (60- or 90-minute only), please provide contact information for all panelists.

Proposals will be reviewed and selected based on the following criteria:

  • innovations for the industry
  • estimated audience appeal
  • feasibility of presentation

All applicants will be notified of acceptance, regret or waitlist status by June 1. Accepted presenters will also be notified regarding which presentation format they have been selected to give.
