SWAT needs your support ... Join our contributors
SWAT has made significant progress since the irrigation industry and water purveyors first met in New Orleans in 2002. Test protocols for climate-based controllers are in use. The protocols for soil moisture sensor-based controllers are in continued development. Draft protocol development is underway for rain sensors.
While the controller drafts were being developed, a marketing study was funded to assess the market and attitudes for climate and soil moisture sensor-based controllers. This led to a website for the industry as well as a separate site for homeowners and businesses. Additionally, marketing collateral templates for web and print material were created for water purveyors to use in marketing to their customers. With the addition of its latest category, rain sensors, SWAT will pursue marketing studies and plans while the protocols are in development.
SWAT has much to do to include more products and continue the monumental task of promoting new technologies - changing residential and commercial consumer thinking, habits, and purchasing behavior.
Irrigation industry and water purveyors are asked to add your organization to a growing list of valued SWAT Contributors. Our vision and efforts have been recognized by the EPA, especially as the EPA expands its WaterSense program to label a variety of water-efficient products.
