Irrigation Association Announces Smart Marketing Contest Winners

Awards recognize exceptional Smart Irrigation Month Promotions

FALLS CHURCH, VA. (Dec. 10, 2010) — The Irrigation Association’s Smart Irrigation Month Committee named the recipients of its inaugural Smart Marketing Contest, designed to recognize the best efforts of 2010 to promote the initiative. IA designated July as Smart Irrigation Month in 2006 to promote efficient watering practices, technologically advanced irrigation products and water conservation. The initiative encourages irrigation professionals to promote water efficiency to business partners, customers and water end users.

 

Contest winners were named in five categories:

  • Turf and landscape distributor/manufacturer: Ewing Irrigation Products (Phoenix, Ariz.)
  • Contractor: ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance (Calabasas, Calif.)
  • Agriculture manufacturer: Trimble Navigation Limited (Sunnyvale, Calif.)
  • Affiliate: City of Calgary, Parks and Water Services (Calgary, Alberta, Canada)
  • Small business: Millenium Irrigation (Fayetteville, Ga.)

“Since the launch of Smart Irrigation Month, we’ve seen many great efforts to promote the month and what it stands for,” said Dave Magner, sales and business development manager, Rain Bird Corporation, who chairs IA’s Smart Irrigation Month Committee. “This year’s contest winners are wonderful examples of that, and we hope to see even more companies promote Smart Irrigation Month and water-efficient irrigation in 2011. Helping drive this initiative is good for the companies involved, good for the industry and good for the planet.”

 

Winners were recognized at the Irrigation Show and will be showcased on the IA and Smart Irrigation Month web sites. All IA members are encouraged to submit entries in 2011, regardless of business size or segment (agriculture, turf/landscape or golf). Deadline is Aug. 31, 2011.
