FALLS CHURCH, VA. (April 6, 2009) - Nearly 800 students from over 60 schools participated in the Professional Landscape Network's 32nd Annual Student Career Days, March 26-29, in Pomona, Calif. The Irrigation Association Education Foundation awarded prizes to the winners of the irrigation competitions at the three-day event.

First place winners in the IAEF-sponsored irrigation competitions were:

  • Irrigation Design: Jim Moylan, Michigan State University, (East Lansing, Michigan.)
  • Irrigation Assembly: Travis Bottini and Daniel Blackwelder, Colorado State University, (Fort Collins, Colo.)
  • Irrigation Troubleshooting: Jessica Gray, North Metro Technical College, (Acworth, Ga.)

"It’s always an honor for IAEF to recognize exceptional students in the green industry," said IA Industry Development Director Brent Mecham, who attended the event. "The kind of innovation we see from these students today will be the new ideas that help promote the need for efficient irrigation in the future."

Irrigation competition winners were awarded an all-expense-paid trip to the Irrigation Show 2009 in San Antonio, where they will be honored at a special luncheon.
