Class Licensing

Licensing Guidelines

  1. Classes may be licensed to an individual, organization, company or an institution for higher learning such as a university, community college or technical school.
  2. There is no minimal teaching competency requirement; however, we encourage participation in “train the trainer” opportunities to improve your skills for teaching adults.
  3. In addition to providing the instructor and venue, licensees are responsible for promotion, participant registration, and ordering and distributing student materials.
  4. The purchase of a licensed class provides the copyright licensing agreement, Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, one copy of the accompanying manual or workbook, teaching outline, course objectives and suggested room set-up. The PowerPoint presentation has a blank background for customization by the instructor. The purchaser should read the copyright license agreement attached to the outside of the CD-ROM; the license is activated by default upon breaking of the seal on the CD.
  5. The licensing fee covers the following:
    1. Free updates of PowerPoint presentation as they become available.
    2. Posting of classes using Irrigation Foundation manuals on IA education web site with a direct link to provider for registration. This service is available but not required, and only applies to licensed classes.
    3. Ten percent quantity discount on Foundation-produced student workbooks. No restocking charge for returned unused manuals within 30 days of a class, prepaid shipping.
    4. Licensee or the instructor from the licensee may attend an IA-sponsored class, with prior approval as a "train-the-trainer" opportunity.
  6. The licensee agrees to the following terms:
    1. You must abide by the copyright license agreement.
    2. You may not state or advertise that you are teaching an Irrigation Association class or that you are endorsed or sponsored by the Irrigation Association or the Irrigation Foundation. You may state that you are using Foundation publications and materials in your presentation.
    3. You may not claim that classes that could prepare a student to take a certification exam are required. You may not make claims that would suggest if a student attends your class they are guaranteed to pass any certification exam.
    4. Scheduling of certification exams will be in accordance with the posted rules and guidelines. No exams, or classes using Foundation materials, may be scheduled two weeks prior, during, or two weeks after the annual Irrigation Show if the class or exam location is within 500 miles of the show location.
