2010 Essay/Video Contest Winners

Winners of the 2010 Irrigation Foundation Essay/Video Contest were announced Oct. 29. One student from the turf/landscape sector and one from the agriculture sector were awarded the prize in the essay category. The winning video was created by a team of two. Almost 20 entries were received, nearly triple the amount of entries ever received in previous years.

 Instructors 

  • Allan Andales, PhD, Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist of Irrigation and Water Science, Colorado State University
  • Ali Fares, PhD, Professor of Hydrology, University of Hawaii at Manoa

Students were asked to submit essays on the Role of Irrigation in Sustainability. Essays were to be between 1,500 and 1,800 words in length; videos were required to be three to five minutes. The entries were evaluated by a committee of four irrigation industry and academic experts.

 

Each winning student and faculty representative received an all-expense paid trip to the Irrigation Show in Phoenix, Dec. 5-7, 2010. The prize includes complimentary travel, hotel and full registration to the expo floor and unlimited complimentary education classes.
