Irrigation Foundation opens 2019 Faculty Academy registration

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA (March 18, 2019) — The Irrigation Foundation will be offering both agriculture and landscape versions of its popular Faculty Academy. The two events allow instructors to network with fellow academics and learn the latest irrigation technologies and techniques.

Educators attend Faculty Academy year after year to continue broadening their irrigation knowledge and learn new irrigation-related curriculum to incorporate into their classrooms.

Both events are free to attend and open to instructors teaching at high schools and two- and four-year institutions. Travel grant assistance is available to qualifying applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.

The landscape Faculty Academy will be held at Rutgers University – New Brunswick in New Brunswick, New Jersey, June 20-21. Participants must register by May 2. Sessions include the following:

  • Catch Can & Soil Moisture Sensor Auditing Hands-on
  • Internships
  • Irrigation 101 (June 19)
  • Irrigation Scheduling
  • Programming With Conventional & Smart Controllers Lab
  • Soil Moisture Sensor Lab
  • Tour of the Rutgers Turf Research Farm
  • Tour of the Rutgers Practice Football Facility

​The agriculture Faculty Academy will be held at the Cal Poly Irrigation Training and Research Center in San Luis Obispo, California, June 27-28. Participants must register by May 9. Sessions include the following:

  • Curriculum Development
  • Fruit/Vegetable Crop Irrigation Management Panel
  • Irrigation Hydraulics Lab
  • Microirrigation vs. Drip Irrigation Systems Lab
  • The Nuts & Bolts Behind Irrigation
  • Tour of ITRC Facilities
