IA Certification Board updates CID landscape program

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA (Oct. 15, 2019) — The Irrigation Association’s Certification Board is reducing the number of specialty exams from three to two for the landscape track of the certified irrigation designer program. The specialty exams for residential and commercial have been combined into one exam.

The revised program will still require candidates to successfully complete the general landscape/turf exam and one specialty exam. The new options for the specialty exams are 1) a golf course irrigation exam, and 2) a residential/commercial irrigation exam. In the original program, CID landscape candidates had three options for the specialty exams (golf, commercial or residential). The total cost of the program will remain the same.

The Certification Candidate Handbook found online at www.irrigation.org/cert-handbook now contains updated specification sheets and content outlines for the residential/commercial specialty exam. Additional study references and resources for the exam can be found on the Prepare for Exams page at www.irrigation.org/prepare-for-exams. The combined landscape/turf specialty residential/commercial exam will launch at the 2019 Irrigation Show and Education Week, Dec. 2-6, in Las Vegas.

These changes to the CID program affect only the landscape track. The IA will contact any CID landscape candidates affected by these changes.

Visit the certified irrigation designer – landscape page at www.irrigation.org/CID or contact the certification department at certification@irrigation.org for more details. Go to www.irrigationshow.org for information about registering for an exam during the show.
