FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ulysses businessman elected to IA Board of Directors
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA (Dec. 8, 2017) — The Irrigation Association is pleased to announce that Monty Teeter, CEO and president of Teeter Irrigation, has been elected to the IA Board of Directors.
Teeter has had lifelong involvement in the center pivot business. His career in the irrigation industry began when he started working for Ulysses Irrigation Pipe Co. in Ulysses, Kansas, at age 19. In 1977, he started Teeter Irrigation in his garage in Johnson, Kansas.
Teeter is now the owner of nine dealerships and is celebrating 40 years in business. Most recently, he developed and patented Dragon-Line, a mobile drip irrigation system that transforms center pivots through drip technology.
Teeter’s volunteer experience includes serving as a dealer council advisor for two major pivot manufacturers and serving as a board member and president of the Central Plains Irrigation Association. In recent years, he has worked extensively with the State of Kansas Division of Water and Kansas State University to help develop water technology farms in western Kansas.
“I appreciate the opportunity to serve on the IA Board,” Teeter said. “I believe many agricultural irrigation dealers feel neglected and are not aware of the availability of resources that the IA can bring to their doorstep. I hope to help bridge the gap and to bring awareness of the association to others.”
Teeter joins additional newly elected board members Barbara Booth of San Diego, California; Michael Dukes, PhD, PE, CID, of Gainesville, Florida; John Newlin, CIC, CIT, CLIA, of North Ridgeville, Ohio; Gene Ross, PE, CID, of Fremont, Nebraska; and Bryan Wynen, CIC, CLIA, CLWM, of South Bend, Indiana.
The IA Board of Directors establishes the association’s strategic direction, policies and programs. The board monitors current and evolving industry trends, determines strategic priorities, defines public policy positions and acts as stewards of IA’s financial resources. Directors are elected each fall by regular members of the association and represent the diversity of member types and market segments.
