FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Deadline approaching for Foundation scholarship program
FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA (Jan. 16, 2018) — The Feb. 15 deadline is quickly approaching for the 2018 Irrigation Foundation scholarship program. This annual program was created to support the Foundation’s mission of promoting careers in irrigation.
By providing financial support toward the education of worthy scholarship candidates, the program promotes the study of careers in the irrigation field, benefits the community through a better-educated workforce, reveals the ever-expanding irrigation industry to scholarship candidates and strengthens the Foundation through a direct link to education.
The scholarships (ranging from $1,000 – $2,500) will be awarded based on the student’s letter of intent, financial need, reference letters, resume and list of irrigation-related courses taken or enrolled in. In 2017, 16 students in programs ranging from community college to graduate level were selected as recipients to receive scholarship awards.
To be eligible, a student must be currently enrolled (undergraduate or graduate) at a U.S technical or vocational school, community college, university or similar institution of higher learning and have a minimum of 2.5 cumulative grade point average, based on a 4.0 scale. The student must be a U.S. citizen and have taken or currently be enrolled in a class with an irrigation-related curriculum. Students must also demonstrate financial need.
Scholarship applications are due by Feb. 15, with notification to award winners by April 1. Apply now!
