Design efficient, economic irrigation systems for orchards and row crops. Two full days cover design procedures, crop requirements, filtration, pumping, pressure regulation, emitter/sprayer selection and emission uniformity. Recommended review for the certified irrigation designer exam (Step 4 Drip/Micro).

 

Agricultural Irrigation Specialist

Advanced | Agriculture (13 CEUs) 

Master principles of irrigation system management for surface (furrow and border strip) and pressurized (micro and sprinkler) systems. Targeted at dealers, regulators and farmers, this 1-1/2 day session includes irrigation volume and frequency, evapotranspiration and crop coefficients, scheduling and salinity effects. Recommended review for the certified agricultural irrigation specialist exam.

 

Center Pivot Design

Advanced | Agriculture (16 CEUs) 

For the experienced irrigator, this class will enhance understanding of center pivot design and system management. Two full days cover the theory and practical applications of system design, including nozzle selection, application rates and scheduling. Recommended class preparation includes Principles of Irrigation.

 

Principles of Irrigation: Agriculture

Intermediate | Agriculture (16 CEUs) 

Master fundamental theory and application principles for agriculture in this intensive session for experienced irrigators (taught in Imperial units). Two full days cover soil-water-plant relationships, advanced hydraulics, electricity, pumps, specialty valves and irrigation equipment. Recommended review for the certified irrigation designer exam (Steps 2 and 3).

Advanced Irrigation Design for Water Conservation

Advanced Irrigation Wiring Methods & Troubleshooting

Master wiring for today’s sophisticated control systems and learn how to design and install grounding system components to protect expensive equipment. This full-day session will cover different types of transformers, proper phasing (primary and secondary), diagnosing problems using different meters, wire sizing for communication cables and two-wire systems, DC controllers, sensors, decoders, special solenoids and proper splicing techniques.

 

Alternative Water for Landscape Irrigation

Targeted at experienced designers, this full-day course covers the basics of sustainable irrigation systems. Topics include the use of reclaimed water and rainwater harvesting, and how it applies to LEED and other programs where sustainability is required.

This 1-1/2 day session covers field tests and calculating accurate watering schedules using plant water use, soils and local weather data. This full-day, hands-on learning session covers gluing and repairing PVC pipe, installing nozzles and adjusting heads, setting and repairing electric valves, and field and controller wiring techniques.
