Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor
Certification Process
To become a certified landscape irrigation auditor, you must:
- Submit a registration form. Minimum requirement: one year of irrigation-related work experience.
- Pass the irrigation auditor exam. The 3-hour exam includes 125 multiple choice questions irrigation audit procedures, soil-plant relationships, irrigation scheduling and equipment/technology.
- Submit a landscape irrigation audit. Audits must be completed independently and verified by an IA-certified professional in good standing.
- Comply with the Code of Ethics.
- Remain in good standing. CLIAs must submit 20 continuing education units per 2-year cycle to remain in good standing. For details on CEU requirements, click here.

Exam cancellations must be made in writing at least five business days prior to the exam date. Cancellations made after this date will be assessed a cancellation fee. If a candidate fails to appear on the day of exam, the candidate will forfeit all application and exam fees and will not be eligible for a refund.
